Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS YOUR METHOD OF DOG TRAINING?
Our Dog Training Programs are all based on creating a sound relationship with our dogs through clear communication and relationship building. We help dogs become the best versions of themselves while educating and coaching owners on how to build the greatest relationship possible with their dogs. We do that by teaching clear communication, managing boundaries, relationship building & play through using a dog’s natural genetics to fulfill them. Whether your dog is biting, fearful, nervous, pulling on the leash, aggressive, reactive, anxious, or a puppy looking to learn the fundamentals our training is universal for all dogs and breeds.
WHO WILL BE WORKING WITH MY DOG?
For Board and Train Programs: We have a dedicated team of Trainers that are hands on with the dogs throughout their board and train program. Upon drop off one of the head trainers will be assigned to your dog by our Manager, and they take the lead on providing directional guidance, goals and updates to the rest of the team so everyone is consistent.
For Private Training Sessions: We have a handful of head trainers that work one on one with clients. Blake only teaches private training sessions in Florida for the time being.
WHAT TYPE OF DOG TRAINING TOOLS DO YOU USE?
Tools that we commonly use are, prong collars, haltis, martingales, slip leads, e collars, food, pet cots, crates, and treats. When you learn how to use many tools correctly, you never have to turn a dog away that you can't help. We use all humane tools properly and are known for helping any breed, any size, and any problem. There are many misconceptions about the use of e collars and prong collars. Please take time to familiarize yourself with the way we are using these. You can view some of our videos here:
DO YOU USE POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT?
Yes, absolutely. We use positive reinforcement and understand the value of a reinforcement based foundation but definitely do not limit ourselves to that. Without getting too scientific, we encourage anyone who is looking to use our training services to become familiar with us and our work online.
HOW MANY TIMES A DAY SHOULD I WORK ON TRAINING WITH MY DOG?
We view training as a lifestyle not an hour session here or there. Training can be happening all of the time in your everyday routine and schedule. We want to help you all be able to include your dog(s) in your everyday life.
WILL WE GET TO SEE OUR DOG DURING THE BOARD AND TRAIN PROGRAM?
We offer a midway session during the program so that we can cover what your dog has been learning so far, and get you into the mix prior to the actual go home session so that is isn’t so overwhelming to start learning everything on the last day of the program. You will be able to see frequent updates on our Instagram @Teamdctk9
HOW EARLY CAN PUPPIES START TRAINING?
Training can start right away. It’s great for puppies to start out with a lot of positive reinforcement, healthy socialization and short sessions to keep them focused and fun.
CAN YOU TRAIN SENIOR DOGS?
Absolutley. It's never too late to start teaching healthier habits.
DO YOU SUPPLY REFERRALS OR TESTIMONIALS?
Yes we do. You can find testimonials from clients on our Website, Google Reviews, Trust Pilot and Yelp.
